Joe Clark's South by South West presentation

Tuesday, March 11, 2003

Joe Clark gave a presentation about accessibility (titled "High Design, High Accessibility.") in the South by South West festival in Austin, Texas USA. The main point was that it is possible to design an accessible and high quality web site, and it is already happening. Joe's presentation contains a lot of useful information concerning accessibility, including a picture of a refreshable braille display (PDF), a section about tab order and layout of forms - all invaluable experience. The presentation itself is littered with excellent resources and links, such as a counter-argument to the incorrect ruling on South Western Airlines ADA challenge.

What I particularly liked about Joe's info is the list of highly accessible, standards compliant and high design real-life website - my favourite being: Cinnamon Interactive.
